J.26/ Improve your Immune Health
Are you someone that gets unwell often, do you catch every sickness going around? This blog is for you, I’ll go through how to improve your wellbeing and boost your immune system.
Your general wellbeing can be improved by some simple steps, reduce your stress levels, stay hydrated, eat well, exercise and making sure you get outdoors. Though sometimes it’s not as simple as this, things such as our environment, genetics, poor lifestyle, high stress and sedentary lifestyle can make it difficult to maintain wellness. Our immune health is related to our general wellbeing and by making slight adjustments in your lifestyle you can boost your health.
What you eat is a huge factor in your immune health, eating a diet full of fresh and wholesome food will give the best chance at staying well. The key aspects to focus on will be lots of fruit and vegetables with plenty of variety, eating foods in their true form rather than processed foods and if you can choosing organic foods. Aim to have less processed foods as this will naturally decrease how much excess sugar, salt and fat you’re having in your diet plus it’ll decrease the amount of food chemicals, preservatives and artificial sweeteners you might be having. Eating a diet rich of wholesome foods means you’ll naturally be getting nutrient dense foods meaning you’ll be obtaining higher amounts of vitamins and minerals. Eating a well balanced diet is key to supporting your health and improving your immune system. Also ensure you’re staying hydrated, drinking enough water is really important in maintaining wellness.
Basic things such as adequate sleep, reducing stress, exercising daily and being outdoors can do wonders for your general wellbeing. These are the pillars you need to focus on to improve your health and improve your immune system. While we sleep our body recovers from the day, we process information, it helps to fight infection, getting enough sleep each night is very important for good health. Getting regular exercise is also very beneficial for our bodies, even if it’s just a walk it will still help improve your wellbeing. It’s also a bonus if you can be outdoors at the same time, having sunlight on your skin helps to boost your Vitamin D levels and breathing in fresh air can provide great benefits to your health.
In some cases following these lifestyle changes aren’t enough for boosting the immune system, that’s where specific supplements and herbal combinations are great to provide the support that your body may need. Nutrients such as Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D are all my favourites for helping support the immune system, there are also some great herbs to help fight infections such as Andrographis and Echinacea. It’s important to speak with a health professional to find out what might be best for you to take to help boost your immune system. Using natural medicine and lifestyle changes can help reduce the severity, duration and frequency of colds.
