J.12/ Naturopathic Medicine
Have you ever wanted to see a Naturopath before? As a Naturopath I treat the patient in a holistic way using herbal medicine, nutrients, diet and lifestyle advice. Treating the patient as a whole I treat the true cause of the symptoms rather than just treating your symptoms.
Naturopathy can help treat many conditions something as simple as a cold to endometriosis, it involves using natural medicine to support your system to allow your body to heal. Naturopathy can be helpful for acute or chronic conditions, some areas that I treat are, gut health, hormonal balancing, fertility, mental health, detoxing, general wellbeing, immune health, pain, insomnia, fatigue, stress and weight management. I like to use supplements which include herbs and nutrients, in addition with lifestyle and diet advice. In some cases my clients are on medication and that is fine as well there is still plenty we can do alongside your medication.
Upon booking your consultation you’ll receive a intake form this is to ensure I can get all the information I need prior to the appointment, during our first consultation I will be asking a lot of in-depth questions. I need to be as thorough as I can to obtain as much information as possible, this is to make sure the treatment plan I prescribe will be personalised to you and help your improve your wellbeing. I usually try to focus on your main areas of concern and try to include as much as I can in the treatment plan without making it overwhelming and hard to maintain. After 4-6 weeks of the initial consultation it’s best to book in your return visit so we can re-access your supplements, make sure everything is going well and make any adjustments that we need to.
I am a firm believer in only prescribing treatment plans that have scientific evidence behind them, a lot of research goes into every treatment plan I prescribe, these include your supplements, further pathology testing if necessary, dietary advice and lifestyle suggestions. Over time your needs for each supplement will change, it’s best to check in every couple of months to make sure you still need what you’re taking and to check the dosage is right. Eventually weaning off most supplements unless they’re just general wellbeing ones, as that is what we want, your body to heal itself. Of course new things come up, new stressors, diet changes, life changes, that is when it’s a great idea to make adjustments to your treatment plan.
Seeing a Naturopath is all about allowing the body to come back to optimal wellbeing and we do that by treating the cause of your symptoms. Naturopath’s are great for chronic as well as acute conditions and especially if you’re wanting a natural treatment approach.
