Having poor gut health can really affect your life, it can really limit you socially but also on a daily basis. Quite often I find my patients just put up with these symptoms of gut dysfunction and think they just have to deal with it. This doesn’t have to be the case at all, with gut health supplements, eating in tune to your body and some life style changes we can work towards a happy gut. In our consult together I ask you to do a mini diet diary for me to see if there is anything that stands out that could be making your gut symptoms worse, we then talk further in depth about different foods, if you’ve had any reactions, quantities and quality of your food and if you’ve noticed any connections. From there I may ask you for a more comprehensive diet diary to gather more information or if I don’t need that I give out a personalised diet plan which includes foods to enjoy and foods to stay away from. I also give out lots of handouts on different ideas about what you can eat, these vary from person to person but mostly it involves decreasing processed foods and eating ample whole fresh foods. Avoiding things such as high sugar, high fat, caffeine and alcohol will also help improve your gut health.
Once we complete our consult I will have all the information I need to choose the right supplements and herbal mix for you, as a Naturopath we treat each patient as an individual therefore each patient will receive their very own treatment plan personalised just for them. In our consult we go over every body system and ask lots of comprehensive questions, this allows me to find out exactly what is going on for you and then give out the appropriate treatment.
Gut health supplements will definitely vary from person to person but usually I aim to give a gut healing supplement this allows the gut to start the healing process, reduce inflammation and aid digestion, I quite often with this alone it does wonders for clients in helping with their symptoms. Other options for supplements might be a probiotic, digestive enzymes, Zinc, Magnesium and anti-inflammatory herbs. But this is different for each client as every one’s needs are different, which is why it’s great to book in for a consultation to get to the root of the cause and not just treat the symptoms.
Once I have completed your personalised treatment plan I send it all in an email for you to read over, this will have information on all the supplements I’ve prescribed such as how to take it, what exactly it is for and how long to use it for. I also include any diet adjustments as necessary, along with any diet handouts and diet change information, additionally I also give out any lifestyle changes that might need to be made. It’s really convenient ordering your supplements you just jump online, add them to your cart and they get sent straight to your house. After about 4-6 weeks I suggest a return consult is made so we can over any changes that need to be made and make sure your supplements are still relevant for you.
