J.33/ Do you need to improve your gut health
If you’re experiencing bloating, pain, discomfort, IBS symptoms or food sensitivities then yes, your gut needs some extra support! These symptoms don’t have to be apart of your daily life and we can work together to bring your gut back to balance
Gut health is one of the most regular things I treat in clinic, it’s quite rare I see a client with no gut symptoms. Most common is bloating and issues with stools, sometimes for my patients they feel this is normal to have these symptoms, as they’ve experienced them for their whole life. These symptoms are not normal and you don’t have to live with them, these are signs that your gut needs some work and support. Poor gut health and can happen from a multitude of difference reasons such as, certain medications like the pill or antibiotics, poor diet, lack of exercise, stress and more. No matter what your situation is it’s important to remember that we can always improve if we want to and nothing is set in stone. In our consultation we work together on a plan that suits you with your lifestyle situation, we’re all human and I don’t expect you to eat perfect 24/7. I am realistic and want you to enjoy your life as well as making small reachable changes to improve your health.
Usually when it comes to improving gut health I use anything from Magnesium, Probiotics, Gut healing powders to Digestive enzymes to name a few. There’s never a one size fits all in my clinic, I take a detailed history in our initial consult to find out all about your history and current symptoms. So depending on my client and what is happening for them as a individual is what determines what my treatment plan will include. I like to go simple first as a lot of time I find less is more and there’s no point of giving lots of different supplements as you won’t know what has worked. If after the initial round of supplements nothing has changed then that’s when I go in with higher strength and more complex products.
A lot of gut wellbeing also comes from diet, ideally I like my clients to eat 80-90% clean and enjoy 10% of special treats. This gives freedom and also allows for variety which reduces the need for having a huge binge on bad foods. For gut health I suggest enjoying lots of seasonal fruit and vegetables, good quality protein, complex carbohydrates, fermented foods and good fats. Hydration is also key for a happy gut, this will ensure there is enough water being drawn into the bowels to have nice soft well formed stools to avoid constipation. These are just basic ideals for a perfect diet I usually tailor it personally to each client on what they need.
I love treating gut health as it can make such a difference in a persons life, they can go back to enjoying all foods without the worry of needing to know where a toilet is or limiting their diet. Good gut health will help you reduce bloating, in pain, experiencing discomfort, reflux, food sensitives and IBS symptoms. You can start improving gut today but eating a nice clean diet, enjoying regular exercise, staying hydrated and reducing your stress levels.
